Coastal Vintage Style Beach Shack - UK

Image
I discovered this amazing beach shack based in the UK on pinterest about 18-months ago.
And thought it was time to share....  A simple holiday cottage once part of a small fishing community, it's isolated and can be reached by an old farm track or by boat. It is one of just a handful shacks with the sea and beach on one side and, marshland and fields as far as the eye can see on the other. It is filled to the brim of so much coastal vintage goodness that is an absolute delight to browse through!. This beach shack is a real treasure trove isn't it?
What else you can you see that you love? Isn't it wonderful?
So lovely & rustic, and unpretentious.
I can see myself curled up with a book on the leather seat marveling at the boat hanging from the ceiling and relishing in all the history of what is filled inside this shack.
What did you like best?

Skimboard Makeover

Image
You may remember last year I blogged about a retro style coffee table that I found  and painted like a surfboard. When my friend Ellie found me this old skimboard, I thought I would do something similar. Here it is completely covered in wax. Which I removed with a scraper and then gave it a quick sand. All clean and ready to paint. I then gave it a couple of coats of Annie Sloane's white chalk paint. Taped up the parts I wanted to keep white and then painted over the top with blue. Once dry, I removed the tape and gave it a quick sand and then waxed with clear wax. The next day, I put it up in the shop.  My first customer was an English lass from Eastbourne and she bought it!  She said she is going to turn it into a coffee table.
So, I'm on the hunt for another old skimboard so I can do something similar again. Maybe this time in a different colour scheme and style.

Sandcastles by Tim Neve

For quite a while interiors stylist, vintage shop owner and author Tim Neve has been an instagram favourite.
I absolutely love Tim's style.  Why? Because Tim loves and appreciates all things that you and I love and that's all things Coastal & Coastal Vintage.  All those beautiful things that inspire you & I in relation to the coast or sea, and he styles them in a way that makes you be inspired to do the same in your own home.  When Tim announced last month that he was launching a book, I knew immediately that I would love it. And when I received it in the mail, I wasn't disappointed. I've spent hours browsing over it and I know I will spend many more hours. It's one of those books you never tire looking at.
So take a look below at some snippets of Tim's book.
I hope you will be inspired as much as I have been.  Neutral & white tones with wonderful natural pieces from the sea. Lots of lovely old items. I particularly love the fish made of shells, t…
